SCHOOLS IN BERRYNARBOR
Berrynarbor Pre-school is a small rural pre-school set in this picturesque village in the heart of North Devon and has good links with the local primary school and the surrounding community. It aims to:
• Provide high quality care and education for children primarily below statutory school age (2 years to 5 years)
• Work in partnership with parents to help children to learn and develop
• Add to the life and well-being of its local community
• Offer children and their parents a service which promotes equality and values diversity
It is open during term time, Monday to Friday, 9.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m.
It operates from the ground floor of the old Manor House and part of its grounds
Breakfast Club for ages 2-11, daily 8.00 a.m.
Berrynarbor VC Primary School was founded in 1847 as a Church school. It has operated from its present location since inception and continues to thrive. It presently has 89 pupils from the village and surrounding parishes, together with 14 teachers, other staff and helpers.
Last year Berrynarbor joined together with West Down Primary School (just 4 miles away) to form the West Berry Federation and there is now one governing body consisting of existing members from each community. This contributes to the current success and helps to continue to improve and move forwards.
During the first year of federation each school had an Ofsted inspection - both have been deemed Outstanding. This is testament to the dedication, hard work and caring ethos which all staff bring to the schools.
There is great pride in the community spirit within the federation. Both schools are situated within small, semi rural villages and strive to involve the children in community life wherever possible.
The West Berry Federation encourages an inclusive style of teaching that allows every child to thrive and enjoy their primary school education.
